سَل بَني إِسرائيلَ كَم آتَيناهُم مِن آيَةٍ بَيِّنَةٍ ۗ وَمَن يُبَدِّل نِعمَةَ اللَّهِ مِن بَعدِ ما جاءَتهُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ شَديدُ العِقابِ

Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs We’ve given them. Anyone who substitutes a blessing he has from God—God is stern in retribution.

زُيِّنَ لِلَّذينَ كَفَرُوا الحَياةُ الدُّنيا وَيَسخَرونَ مِنَ الَّذينَ آمَنوا ۘ وَالَّذينَ اتَّقَوا فَوقَهُم يَومَ القِيامَةِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَرزُقُ مَن يَشاءُ بِغَيرِ حِسابٍ

The worldly life is made alluring to those who disbelieve, and they ridicule those who believe. but the righteous will be above them on Resurrection Day. God provides for whom He wills, without measure.

كانَ النّاسُ أُمَّةً واحِدَةً فَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ النَّبِيّينَ مُبَشِّرينَ وَمُنذِرينَ وَأَنزَلَ مَعَهُمُ الكِتابَ بِالحَقِّ لِيَحكُمَ بَينَ النّاسِ فيمَا اختَلَفوا فيهِ ۚ وَمَا اختَلَفَ فيهِ إِلَّا الَّذينَ أوتوهُ مِن بَعدِ ما جاءَتهُمُ البَيِّناتُ بَغيًا بَينَهُم ۖ فَهَدَى اللَّهُ الَّذينَ آمَنوا لِمَا اختَلَفوا فيهِ مِنَ الحَقِّ بِإِذنِهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَهدي مَن يَشاءُ إِلىٰ صِراطٍ مُستَقيمٍ

Mankind was a single community, then God sent Messengers with good news and warnings. Alongside them, He revealed the Scripture with the truth, to judge between people in their disputes. It was only after receiving clear proofs that they began to differ, due to mutual envy. By His will, God guided the believers to the truth about which they had disputed. God guides whom He wills onto a straight path.

أَم حَسِبتُم أَن تَدخُلُوا الجَنَّةَ وَلَمّا يَأتِكُم مَثَلُ الَّذينَ خَلَوا مِن قَبلِكُم ۖ مَسَّتهُمُ البَأساءُ وَالضَّرّاءُ وَزُلزِلوا حَتّىٰ يَقولَ الرَّسولُ وَالَّذينَ آمَنوا مَعَهُ مَتىٰ نَصرُ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلا إِنَّ نَصرَ اللَّهِ قَريبٌ

Or do you think you will enter Paradise, without undergoing the trials faced by those before you? They were afflicted with hardship and adversity, and were so shaken up, that the Messenger and those who believed with him said, “When will God’s help come?” Surely, God’s help is near.

يَسأَلونَكَ ماذا يُنفِقونَ ۖ قُل ما أَنفَقتُم مِن خَيرٍ فَلِلوالِدَينِ وَالأَقرَبينَ وَاليَتامىٰ وَالمَساكينِ وَابنِ السَّبيلِ ۗ وَما تَفعَلوا مِن خَيرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَليمٌ

They ask you about what they should spend. Respond, “Whatever you spend should be for parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, and the person on the path. Whatever good you do, God is fully aware of it.”

يَسأَلونَكَ عَنِ الشَّهرِ الحَرامِ قِتالٍ فيهِ ۖ قُل قِتالٌ فيهِ كَبيرٌ ۖ وَصَدٌّ عَن سَبيلِ اللَّهِ وَكُفرٌ بِهِ وَالمَسجِدِ الحَرامِ وَإِخراجُ أَهلِهِ مِنهُ أَكبَرُ عِندَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَالفِتنَةُ أَكبَرُ مِنَ القَتلِ ۗ وَلا يَزالونَ يُقاتِلونَكُم حَتّىٰ يَرُدّوكُم عَن دينِكُم إِنِ استَطاعوا ۚ وَمَن يَرتَدِد مِنكُم عَن دينِهِ فَيَمُت وَهُوَ كافِرٌ فَأُولـٰئِكَ حَبِطَت أَعمالُهُم فِي الدُّنيا وَالآخِرَةِ ۖ وَأُولـٰئِكَ أَصحابُ النّارِ ۖ هُم فيها خالِدونَ

They ask you about fighting during the Sacred Month. Say, “Fighting during it is a great sin. But to divert from the path of God, and disbelieve in Him, and prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and expel its inhabitants, is more serious with God. And strife is worse than killing.” They won’t cease fighting you until they make you renounce your faith, if they can. Whoever among you turns back from his religion and dies as a disbeliever, their deeds will come to nothing in this world and the Hereafter. These are the dwellers of the Fire, where they will remain forever.

إِنَّ الَّذينَ آمَنوا وَالَّذينَ هاجَروا وَجاهَدوا في سَبيلِ اللَّهِ أُولـٰئِكَ يَرجونَ رَحمَتَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفورٌ رَحيمٌ

However, those who have faith, emigrate and strive in God’s path can hope for God’s mercy. God is Forgiving and Merciful.

يَسأَلونَكَ عَنِ الخَمرِ وَالمَيسِرِ ۖ قُل فيهِما إِثمٌ كَبيرٌ وَمَنافِعُ لِلنّاسِ وَإِثمُهُما أَكبَرُ مِن نَفعِهِما ۗ وَيَسأَلونَكَ ماذا يُنفِقونَ قُلِ العَفوَ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمُ الآياتِ لَعَلَّكُم تَتَفَكَّرونَ

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, “In both is great sin as well as some benefits for people. But their sin outweighs their benefits.” They ask you what they should spend. Say, “The excess.” Thus, God makes His verses clear to you, so that you may reflect.

فِي الدُّنيا وَالآخِرَةِ ۗ وَيَسأَلونَكَ عَنِ اليَتامىٰ ۖ قُل إِصلاحٌ لَهُم خَيرٌ ۖ وَإِن تُخالِطوهُم فَإِخوانُكُم ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعلَمُ المُفسِدَ مِنَ المُصلِحِ ۚ وَلَو شاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَعنَتَكُم ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزيزٌ حَكيمٌ

Concerning this world and the Hereafter. They ask you about orphans. Say, “Acting in their best interests is good. But if you mix with them, consider them your brothers.” God knows the corruptor from the reformer. Had God willed, He could’ve imposed hardship on you. God is Mighty and Wise.

وَلا تَنكِحُوا المُشرِكاتِ حَتّىٰ يُؤمِنَّ ۚ وَلَأَمَةٌ مُؤمِنَةٌ خَيرٌ مِن مُشرِكَةٍ وَلَو أَعجَبَتكُم ۗ وَلا تُنكِحُوا المُشرِكينَ حَتّىٰ يُؤمِنوا ۚ وَلَعَبدٌ مُؤمِنٌ خَيرٌ مِن مُشرِكٍ وَلَو أَعجَبَكُم ۗ أُولـٰئِكَ يَدعونَ إِلَى النّارِ ۖ وَاللَّهُ يَدعو إِلَى الجَنَّةِ وَالمَغفِرَةِ بِإِذنِهِ ۖ وَيُبَيِّنُ آياتِهِ لِلنّاسِ لَعَلَّهُم يَتَذَكَّرونَ

Don’t marry polytheistic women until they believe. A believing maid is better than a polytheist, even if she appeals to you. Likewise, don’t marry polytheistic men until they believe. A believing servant is better than a polytheist, even if he appeals to you. These invite to the Fire, while God invites to Paradise and to forgiveness, by His leave. He makes His verses clear for people, so they may reflect.
