They said, “We wish to eat from it to reassure our hearts, to confirm that you’ve told us the truth, and to bear witness to it.”
Jesus, son of Mary, said, “O God, our Lord, send us a table spread from heaven, to serve as a festive occasion for us—for the first of us and the last—and as a sign from You. Provide for us, for You are the Best of Providers.”
God responded, “I will send it down to you. But if any of you disbelieve afterward, I will indeed inflict a punishment upon him the likes of which I have not inflicted upon anyone in the worlds.”
And when God said, “O Jesus, son of Mary, did you instruct people to take you and your mother as gods below God?” He will reply, “Glory be to You! It’s not for me to say what I have no right to.” Had I said it, You would’ve known it. You know what’s in my soul, yet I don’t know what’s in your soul. Indeed, You Alone are the Knower of all things unseen.
I only told them what You commanded me: ‘Worship God, my Lord, and your Lord.’ I was a witness over them as long as I was among them. But when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are the Witness to everything.
If You punish them, they are Your servants; but if You forgive them, You are the Mighty and Wise.’”
God will then say, “This day the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.” They will have Gardens through which rivers flow, where they will abide forever. God is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. This is the greatest triumph.
To God belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that’s within them, and He is capable of everything.
