بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ وَالشَّمسِ وَضُحاها

By the sun and its brilliance.

وَالقَمَرِ إِذا تَلاها

And the moon, as it follows it.

وَاللَّيلِ إِذا يَغشاها

And the night, as it covers it.

وَالسَّماءِ وَما بَناها

And the sky, and He who built it.

وَالأَرضِ وَما طَحاها

And the earth, and He who spread it out.

وَنَفسٍ وَما سَوّاها

And the soul, and He who proportioned it.

فَأَلهَمَها فُجورَها وَتَقواها

Then He inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness.
