بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ وَاللَّيلِ إِذا يَغشىٰ

By the night as it covers.

وَالنَّهارِ إِذا تَجَلّىٰ

And by the day, as it reveals.

وَما خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثىٰ

And by He who created the male and the female.

إِنَّ سَعيَكُم لَشَتّىٰ

Surely, your endeavors are diverse.

فَأَمّا مَن أَعطىٰ وَاتَّقىٰ

As for the one who gives and is righteous.

وَصَدَّقَ بِالحُسنىٰ

And who affirms the ultimate goodness.

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِليُسرىٰ

We will pave for him the path of ease.

وَأَمّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاستَغنىٰ

But as for he who is stingy and indifferent.

وَكَذَّبَ بِالحُسنىٰ

And denies the ultimate goodness.

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلعُسرىٰ

We will pave for him the path of hardship.

وَما يُغني عَنهُ مالُهُ إِذا تَرَدّىٰ

And his wealth won’t avail him when he plummets.

إِنَّ عَلَينا لَلهُدىٰ

It’s upon Us to guide.

وَإِنَّ لَنا لَلآخِرَةَ وَالأولىٰ

And to Us belong the Last and the First.

فَأَنذَرتُكُم نارًا تَلَظّىٰ

I have warned you of a blazing Fire.

لا يَصلاها إِلَّا الأَشقَى

None will burn in it except the wicked.

الَّذي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّىٰ

He who denies and turns away.

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الأَتقَى

But the righteous will avoid it.

الَّذي يُؤتي مالَهُ يَتَزَكّىٰ

He who gives of what he has, purifying himself.

وَما لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِعمَةٍ تُجزىٰ

Not expecting to be repaid by anyone.

إِلَّا ابتِغاءَ وَجهِ رَبِّهِ الأَعلىٰ

Solely seeking the countenance of his Lord, the Most High.

وَلَسَوفَ يَرضىٰ

And he will be satisfied.
