وَما يَأتيهِم مِن رَسولٍ إِلّا كانوا بِهِ يَستَهزِئونَ
Yet every messenger that came to them was ridiculed.
كَذٰلِكَ نَسلُكُهُ في قُلوبِ المُجرِمينَ
Thus, We subtly instill it into the hearts of the criminals.
لا يُؤمِنونَ بِهِ ۖ وَقَد خَلَت سُنَّةُ الأَوَّلينَ
They will not have faith in it, though the ways of the ancients have passed away.
وَلَو فَتَحنا عَلَيهِم بابًا مِنَ السَّماءِ فَظَلّوا فيهِ يَعرُجونَ
Even if we were to open up a gate into heaven for them, and they kept ascending through it.
لَقالوا إِنَّما سُكِّرَت أَبصارُنا بَل نَحنُ قَومٌ مَسحورونَ
They would still say, “Our eyes are tricked; we are under a spell.”
وَلَقَد جَعَلنا فِي السَّماءِ بُروجًا وَزَيَّنّاها لِلنّاظِرينَ
We positioned constellations in the sky, and We beautified it for the observers.
وَحَفِظناها مِن كُلِّ شَيطانٍ رَجيمٍ
And We protected it from every accursed devil.
إِلّا مَنِ استَرَقَ السَّمعَ فَأَتبَعَهُ شِهابٌ مُبينٌ
Except those who stealthily eavesdrop; a piercing flame pursues them.
وَالأَرضَ مَدَدناها وَأَلقَينا فيها رَواسِيَ وَأَنبَتنا فيها مِن كُلِّ شَيءٍ مَوزونٍ
And We spread the earth, and placed stabilizers upon it, and fostered balanced growth within it.
وَجَعَلنا لَكُم فيها مَعايِشَ وَمَن لَستُم لَهُ بِرازِقينَ
We made it a habitat for you and for those you don’t sustain.
وَإِن مِن شَيءٍ إِلّا عِندَنا خَزائِنُهُ وَما نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعلومٍ
There is not a thing but that with Us are its storehouses, and We dispense it in known measure.
