When he asked his father and his people, “What do you worship?”
They replied, “We worship idols, to which we are fervently devoted.”
He asked, “Can they hear you when you pray to them?
Can they benefit you or harm you?”
They responded, “But this is what we found our ancestors doing.”
He then challenged, “Did you ever consider what you worship?
You and your ancient forefathers?
They are enemies to me; but not so the Lord of the Worlds.
He who created me, and it is He who guides me.
He who provides me with food and drink.
And when I fall ill, it’s He who heals me.
