قُل لا يَعلَمُ مَن فِي السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ الغَيبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ۚ وَما يَشعُرونَ أَيّانَ يُبعَثونَ
Say, “None in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen, except for God, and they don’t perceive when they will be resurrected.”
بَلِ ادّارَكَ عِلمُهُم فِي الآخِرَةِ ۚ بَل هُم في شَكٍّ مِنها ۖ بَل هُم مِنها عَمونَ
Their understanding of the Hereafter is obscure; they are skeptical about it, and they are blind to it.
وَقالَ الَّذينَ كَفَروا أَإِذا كُنّا تُرابًا وَآباؤُنا أَئِنّا لَمُخرَجونَ
Those who disbelieve say, “When we and our ancestors become dust, will we be resurrected?
لَقَد وُعِدنا هـٰذا نَحنُ وَآباؤُنا مِن قَبلُ إِن هـٰذا إِلّا أَساطيرُ الأَوَّلينَ
We and our ancestors were promised this before; these are nothing but legends of the ancients.”
قُل سيروا فِي الأَرضِ فَانظُروا كَيفَ كانَ عاقِبَةُ المُجرِمينَ
Say, “Roam the earth and see the fate that befell the wrongdoers.”
وَلا تَحزَن عَلَيهِم وَلا تَكُن في ضَيقٍ مِمّا يَمكُرونَ
Don’t grieve for them, nor be distressed by their schemes.
وَيَقولونَ مَتىٰ هـٰذَا الوَعدُ إِن كُنتُم صادِقينَ
They ask, “When will this promise come to pass, if you are truthful?”
قُل عَسىٰ أَن يَكونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعضُ الَّذي تَستَعجِلونَ
Reply, “It may be that what you wish to hasten is already near you.”
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذو فَضلٍ عَلَى النّاسِ وَلـٰكِنَّ أَكثَرَهُم لا يَشكُرونَ
Your Lord is generous towards people, yet most of them don’t express gratitude.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعلَمُ ما تُكِنُّ صُدورُهُم وَما يُعلِنونَ
Surely your Lord knows what their hearts hide and what they reveal.
وَما مِن غائِبَةٍ فِي السَّماءِ وَالأَرضِ إِلّا في كِتابٍ مُبينٍ
There is nothing concealed in the heavens or on the earth that is not in a clear record.
