فَلَولا أَنَّهُ كانَ مِنَ المُسَبِّحينَ

Had he not been of those who praised.

لَلَبِثَ في بَطنِهِ إِلىٰ يَومِ يُبعَثونَ

He would’ve remained in its belly until the Day they’re raised.

فَنَبَذناهُ بِالعَراءِ وَهُوَ سَقيمٌ

Then We threw him into the open, and he was ill and weak.

وَأَنبَتنا عَلَيهِ شَجَرَةً مِن يَقطينٍ

And We made a gourd plant grow over him.

وَأَرسَلناهُ إِلىٰ مِائَةِ أَلفٍ أَو يَزيدونَ

Then, We sent him to a hundred thousand or more.

فَاستَفتِهِم أَلِرَبِّكَ البَناتُ وَلَهُمُ البَنونَ

Now ask them their opinion: “Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?”

أَم خَلَقنَا المَلائِكَةَ إِناثًا وَهُم شاهِدونَ

Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnessing?

أَلا إِنَّهُم مِن إِفكِهِم لَيَقولونَ

They are speaking from their conjecture when they say.

وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُم لَكاذِبونَ

“God has begotten.” They are liars, definitely.

أَصطَفَى البَناتِ عَلَى البَنينَ

Does He prefer daughters over sons?
