وَنُفِخَ فِي الصّورِ ۚ ذٰلِكَ يَومُ الوَعيدِ

And the trumpet will be blown. This is the Day of Promise.

وَجاءَت كُلُّ نَفسٍ مَعَها سائِقٌ وَشَهيدٌ

And every soul will come, with it an usher and a witness.

لَقَد كُنتَ في غَفلَةٍ مِن هـٰذا فَكَشَفنا عَنكَ غِطاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ اليَومَ حَديدٌ

“You were neglectful of this, so We’ve removed your veil, and your sight today is iron.”

وَقالَ قَرينُهُ هـٰذا ما لَدَيَّ عَتيدٌ

And his companion will say, “This is what’s with me, prepared.”

أَلقِيا في جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفّارٍ عَنيدٍ

“Throw in Hell every stubborn unbeliever.

الَّذي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلـٰهًا آخَرَ فَأَلقِياهُ فِي العَذابِ الشَّديدِ

Who set up another god alongside God, so throw him into severe suffering.”

قالَ قَرينُهُ رَبَّنا ما أَطغَيتُهُ وَلـٰكِن كانَ في ضَلالٍ بَعيدٍ

His attendant will say, “Our Lord, I didn’t make him transgress, but he was far astray.”

قالَ لا تَختَصِموا لَدَيَّ وَقَد قَدَّمتُ إِلَيكُم بِالوَعيدِ

He will say, “Don’t feud in my presence—I had already given you the warning.

ما يُبَدَّلُ القَولُ لَدَيَّ وَما أَنا بِظَلّامٍ لِلعَبيدِ

My word cannot be changed, and I am not unjust to the beings.”

يَومَ نَقولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ امتَلَأتِ وَتَقولُ هَل مِن مَزيدٍ

On that Day, We will ask Hell, “Are you filled?” And it will reply, “Are there still more?”
