إِنّا أَرسَلنا عَلَيهِم حاصِبًا إِلّا آلَ لوطٍ ۖ نَجَّيناهُم بِسَحَرٍ

We rained upon them a shower of stones, except for the family of Lot, We saved them early morning.

نِعمَةً مِن عِندِنا ۚ كَذٰلِكَ نَجزي مَن شَكَرَ

As a blessing from Us. Thus, do We reward those who give thanks.

وَلَقَد أَنذَرَهُم بَطشَتَنا فَتَمارَوا بِالنُّذُرِ

He had warned them of Our onslaught, but they disputed the warnings.

وَلَقَد راوَدوهُ عَن ضَيفِهِ فَطَمَسنا أَعيُنَهُم فَذوقوا عَذابي وَنُذُرِ

They even demanded his guests from him, so We obliterated their eyes. “Taste My punishment and warnings.”

وَلَقَد صَبَّحَهُم بُكرَةً عَذابٌ مُستَقِرٌّ

Morning brought them unrelenting suffering.

وَلَقَد يَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِن مُدَّكِرٍ

We made the Quran easy to memorize. Is there anyone who will memorize?

وَلَقَد جاءَ آلَ فِرعَونَ النُّذُرُ

Warnings had come to the House of Pharaoh.

كَذَّبوا بِآياتِنا كُلِّها فَأَخَذناهُم أَخذَ عَزيزٍ مُقتَدِرٍ

They rejected all Our signs, so We seized them with the grip of an Almighty Omnipotent.

أَكُفّارُكُم خَيرٌ مِن أُولـٰئِكُم أَم لَكُم بَراءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ

Are your unbelievers better than those? Or do you have immunity in the Scriptures?

أَم يَقولونَ نَحنُ جَميعٌ مُنتَصِرٌ

Or do they say, “We are a united multitude, bound for victory”?
