بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ وَالسَّماءِ وَالطّارِقِ

By the sky and the pulsar.

وَما أَدراكَ مَا الطّارِقُ

And what will explain to you what the pulsar is?

النَّجمُ الثّاقِبُ

It’s the piercing star.

إِن كُلُّ نَفسٍ لَمّا عَلَيها حافِظٌ

There is no soul without a Protector over it.

فَليَنظُرِ الإِنسانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

Let man consider what he was created from.

خُلِقَ مِن ماءٍ دافِقٍ

He was created from a gushing fluid.

يَخرُجُ مِن بَينِ الصُّلبِ وَالتَّرائِبِ

Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

إِنَّهُ عَلىٰ رَجعِهِ لَقادِرٌ

He is surely able to return him.

يَومَ تُبلَى السَّرائِرُ

On the Day when the secrets are exposed.

فَما لَهُ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلا ناصِرٍ

He will have no power, nor any helper.

وَالسَّماءِ ذاتِ الرَّجعِ

By the sky with the return.

وَالأَرضِ ذاتِ الصَّدعِ

And the earth that splits open.

إِنَّهُ لَقَولٌ فَصلٌ

It’s a decisive statement.

وَما هُوَ بِالهَزلِ

And it’s not a joke.

إِنَّهُم يَكيدونَ كَيدًا

They are plotting a plot.

وَأَكيدُ كَيدًا

And I am planning a plan.

فَمَهِّلِ الكافِرينَ أَمهِلهُم رُوَيدًا

So, give the unbelievers some time; let them be for a while.
