أَتَدعونَ بَعلًا وَتَذَرونَ أَحسَنَ الخالِقينَ

Do you call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators?

اللَّهَ رَبَّكُم وَرَبَّ آبائِكُمُ الأَوَّلينَ

God is your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors.”

فَكَذَّبوهُ فَإِنَّهُم لَمُحضَرونَ

But they rejected him, and they will be apprehended.

إِلّا عِبادَ اللَّهِ المُخلَصينَ

Except for God’s chosen servants.

وَتَرَكنا عَلَيهِ فِي الآخِرينَ

We left for him a favorable mention among later generations.

إِنّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجزِي المُحسِنينَ

Thus do We reward those who do good.

إِنَّهُ مِن عِبادِنَا المُؤمِنينَ

He was one of Our believing servants.

وَإِنَّ لوطًا لَمِنَ المُرسَلينَ

And Lot was among the messengers.

إِذ نَجَّيناهُ وَأَهلَهُ أَجمَعينَ

We saved him and his entire family.

إِلّا عَجوزًا فِي الغابِرينَ

Except an elderly woman who was among those left behind.
