وَإِذا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَحدَهُ اشمَأَزَّت قُلوبُ الَّذينَ لا يُؤمِنونَ بِالآخِرَةِ ۖ وَإِذا ذُكِرَ الَّذينَ مِن دونِهِ إِذا هُم يَستَبشِرونَ

And when God is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who don’t believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ فاطِرَ السَّماواتِ وَالأَرضِ عالِمَ الغَيبِ وَالشَّهادَةِ أَنتَ تَحكُمُ بَينَ عِبادِكَ في ما كانوا فيهِ يَختَلِفونَ

Say: “O God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will arbitrate among Your servants regarding their disputes.”

وَلَو أَنَّ لِلَّذينَ ظَلَموا ما فِي الأَرضِ جَميعًا وَمِثلَهُ مَعَهُ لَافتَدَوا بِهِ مِن سوءِ العَذابِ يَومَ القِيامَةِ ۚ وَبَدا لَهُم مِنَ اللَّهِ ما لَم يَكونوا يَحتَسِبونَ

If the wrongdoers possessed everything on earth, and twice as much, they would surely offer it to ransom themselves from the horrific punishment on Resurrection Day. And there will come to them, from God, what they had not been counting on.

وَبَدا لَهُم سَيِّئَاتُ ما كَسَبوا وَحاقَ بِهِم ما كانوا بِهِ يَستَهزِئونَ

They will be confronted with the bad outcomes of their actions, and what they used to ridicule will come back to haunt them.

فَإِذا مَسَّ الإِنسانَ ضُرٌّ دَعانا ثُمَّ إِذا خَوَّلناهُ نِعمَةً مِنّا قالَ إِنَّما أوتيتُهُ عَلىٰ عِلمٍ ۚ بَل هِيَ فِتنَةٌ وَلـٰكِنَّ أَكثَرَهُم لا يَعلَمونَ

When adversity touches a person, he implores Us. But when We bestow a favor upon him, he says, “I acquired this through my knowledge and skill.” Indeed, it is just a trial, but most of them don’t realize.

فَأَصابَهُم سَيِّئَاتُ ما كَسَبوا ۚ وَالَّذينَ ظَلَموا مِن هـٰؤُلاءِ سَيُصيبُهُم سَيِّئَاتُ ما كَسَبوا وَما هُم بِمُعجِزينَ

The repercussions of their evil deeds overwhelmed them, and the wrongdoers of this era will also face the consequences of their actions, from which they can’t escape.

أَوَلَم يَعلَموا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبسُطُ الرِّزقَ لِمَن يَشاءُ وَيَقدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ في ذٰلِكَ لَآياتٍ لِقَومٍ يُؤمِنونَ

Don’t they realize that God expands the provision for whom He wills and restricts it as well? In this are signs for people of faith.

قُل يا عِبادِيَ الَّذينَ أَسرَفوا عَلىٰ أَنفُسِهِم لا تَقنَطوا مِن رَحمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغفِرُ الذُّنوبَ جَميعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفورُ الرَّحيمُ

Say, “O my servants who have transgressed against yourselves: Don’t despair of God’s mercy, God forgives all sins. It is He who is the Merciful, the Forgiving.”

وَأَنيبوا إِلىٰ رَبِّكُم وَأَسلِموا لَهُ مِن قَبلِ أَن يَأتِيَكُمُ العَذابُ ثُمَّ لا تُنصَرونَ

Return with wholehearted repentance to your Lord, and submit yourselves completely to Him, before the suffering befalls you, after which you won’t be helped.

وَاتَّبِعوا أَحسَنَ ما أُنزِلَ إِلَيكُم مِن رَبِّكُم مِن قَبلِ أَن يَأتِيَكُمُ العَذابُ بَغتَةً وَأَنتُم لا تَشعُرونَ

Adhere to the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord, before the punishment engulfs you unexpectedly.
