مُهطِعينَ إِلَى الدّاعِ ۖ يَقولُ الكافِرونَ هـٰذا يَومٌ عَسِرٌ

Rushing towards the Caller. The unbelievers will say, “This is a difficult day.”

كَذَّبَت قَبلَهُم قَومُ نوحٍ فَكَذَّبوا عَبدَنا وَقالوا مَجنونٌ وَازدُجِرَ

The people of Noah denied before them. They denied Our servant and said, “A madman,” and he was rebuked.

فَدَعا رَبَّهُ أَنّي مَغلوبٌ فَانتَصِر

So, he appealed to his Lord: “I am defeated, so help!”

فَفَتَحنا أَبوابَ السَّماءِ بِماءٍ مُنهَمِرٍ

Then We opened the doors of the sky with pouring water.

وَفَجَّرنَا الأَرضَ عُيونًا فَالتَقَى الماءُ عَلىٰ أَمرٍ قَد قُدِرَ

And We burst the earth with springs, and the waters converged for a purpose predestined.

تَجري بِأَعيُنِنا جَزاءً لِمَن كانَ كُفِرَ

Sailing under Our observation—a recompense for him who had been rejected.

وَلَقَد تَرَكناها آيَةً فَهَل مِن مُدَّكِرٍ

And We left it as a sign—is there anyone who will take notice?

فَكَيفَ كانَ عَذابي وَنُذُرِ

So, how were My punishment and warnings?

وَلَقَد يَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِن مُدَّكِرٍ

We made the Quran easy to learn. Is there anyone who will learn?

كَذَّبَت عادٌ فَكَيفَ كانَ عَذابي وَنُذُرِ

Aad denied the truth. So, how were My punishment and warnings?
