كَذَّبَت عادٌ فَكَيفَ كانَ عَذابي وَنُذُرِ

Aad denied the truth. So, how were My punishment and warnings?

إِنّا أَرسَلنا عَلَيهِم ريحًا صَرصَرًا في يَومِ نَحسٍ مُستَمِرٍّ

We unleashed upon them a screaming wind, on a day of continuous misfortune.

تَنزِعُ النّاسَ كَأَنَّهُم أَعجازُ نَخلٍ مُنقَعِرٍ

Plucking people up, as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.

فَكَيفَ كانَ عَذابي وَنُذُرِ

So, how were My punishment and warnings?

وَلَقَد يَسَّرنَا القُرآنَ لِلذِّكرِ فَهَل مِن مُدَّكِرٍ

We made the Quran easy to remember. Is there anyone who will remember?

فَقالوا أَبَشَرًا مِنّا واحِدًا نَتَّبِعُهُ إِنّا إِذًا لَفي ضَلالٍ وَسُعُرٍ

They questioned, “Are we to follow one man from among us? Surely, we would then be in error and insanity.

أَأُلقِيَ الذِّكرُ عَلَيهِ مِن بَينِنا بَل هُوَ كَذّابٌ أَشِرٌ

Was the message sent to him alone among us? He is a wicked liar.”

سَيَعلَمونَ غَدًا مَنِ الكَذّابُ الأَشِرُ

They will know tomorrow who the wicked liar is.

إِنّا مُرسِلُو النّاقَةِ فِتنَةً لَهُم فَارتَقِبهُم وَاصطَبِر

We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So, observe them and be patient.

وَنَبِّئهُم أَنَّ الماءَ قِسمَةٌ بَينَهُم ۖ كُلُّ شِربٍ مُحتَضَرٌ

And inform them that the water is to be shared among them; each drink will be provided in turn.
