بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ إِذَا السَّماءُ انفَطَرَت

When the sky fractures.

وَإِذَا الكَواكِبُ انتَثَرَت

And the stars scatter.

وَإِذَا البِحارُ فُجِّرَت

And the seas erupt.

وَإِذَا القُبورُ بُعثِرَت

And the graves are unearthed.

عَلِمَت نَفسٌ ما قَدَّمَت وَأَخَّرَت

Every soul will know what it forwarded and what it deferred.

يا أَيُّهَا الإِنسانُ ما غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الكَريمِ

O man, what deceived you from your generous Lord?

الَّذي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ

He who created you, shaped you, and proportioned you.

في أَيِّ صورَةٍ ما شاءَ رَكَّبَكَ

In whatever form He willed, He assembled you.

كَلّا بَل تُكَذِّبونَ بِالدّينِ

Rather, you deny Judgment.

وَإِنَّ عَلَيكُم لَحافِظينَ

Even though there are protectors over you.

كِرامًا كاتِبينَ

Noble scribes.

يَعلَمونَ ما تَفعَلونَ

They know all that you do.

إِنَّ الأَبرارَ لَفي نَعيمٍ

The righteous will be in bliss.

وَإِنَّ الفُجّارَ لَفي جَحيمٍ

And the wicked will be in Hell.

يَصلَونَها يَومَ الدّينِ

They will enter it on the Day of Recompense.

وَما هُم عَنها بِغائِبينَ

And they won’t be absent from it.

وَما أَدراكَ ما يَومُ الدّينِ

What will make you understand what the Day of Recompense is?

ثُمَّ ما أَدراكَ ما يَومُ الدّينِ

Then, what will make you comprehend what the Day of Recompense is?

يَومَ لا تَملِكُ نَفسٌ لِنَفسٍ شَيئًا ۖ وَالأَمرُ يَومَئِذٍ لِلَّهِ

It’s the day when no soul possesses anything for another soul, and the command on that day is entirely for God.
