فَلا أُقسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ

So, I swear by the twilight’s glow.

وَاللَّيلِ وَما وَسَقَ

And by the night, and all it encloses.

وَالقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ

And by the moon, when it becomes full.

لَتَركَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ

You will ascend from stage to stage.

فَما لَهُم لا يُؤمِنونَ

So why, then, do they not believe?

بَلِ الَّذينَ كَفَروا يُكَذِّبونَ

But those who disbelieve are in denial.

وَاللَّهُ أَعلَمُ بِما يوعونَ

And God certainly knows what they are hiding.

فَبَشِّرهُم بِعَذابٍ أَليمٍ

So, give them the news of a severe punishment.

إِلَّا الَّذينَ آمَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّالِحاتِ لَهُم أَجرٌ غَيرُ مَمنونٍ

But for those who believe and do righteous deeds, theirs is an unending reward.
